The Tyson Trial: What Did It Mean?
The only message that was sent by the Tyson trial is that a rapist will be convicted only when there is an enormous difference between the victim and the rapist in terms of age, experience and naivete.
Who could not believe rape occurred when Tyson was confidently portrayed by his own defense as a sex fiend and the woman appeared defenseless?
The only message is that our timeworn images of rape and the rape victim have not changed at all.
