Raunch Radio

I recently had the misfortune of tuning my radio to a vulgar worm--I later learned it was Howard Stern--as he whined at some length about two fools that had copied his programming genius and were winning a large audience for themselves in Southern California, Mark Thompson and Brian Phelps no doubt. I had an impression that a stand-in for the regular morning deejay must be howling without supervision.

Of course, I couldn’t believe that anyone above the level of moron would deliberately tune in for such insipid rubbish, morning after morning. That is, until I read the cover story of last Sunday’s Calendar. Imagine my surprise that these no-talent jerks had an audience.

I was surprised that The Times would waste paper and ink on these clowns. I am surprised that I am writing you about this nonsense.
