Unheralded Dudley Hart shot a seven-under-par 65 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead over three rivals going into today’s final round of the Northern Telecom Open at Tucson.

Hart, 23, in his second year on the PGA Tour, stood at 13-under 203 to lead Ken Green, Mike Hulbert and Bruce Fleisher by one after 54 holes.

Hart birdied five of the last eight holes on Friday to make the cut, and his hot hand continued Saturday. After a three-foot eagle putt on the par-five second hole and a 12-footer for birdie on the third, Hart was on his way.

There are 18 players within four shots of the lead, including Curtis Strange (70-205) and Ray Floyd (68-207).

Kermit Zarley, who last won a professional golf tournament eight years ago, shot a three-under-par 68 to take a one-stroke lead going into the final round of the $450,000 GTE Suncoast senior event at Tampa, Fla.

Zarley is at nine-under 133 after 36 holes at the 6,638-yard Tournament Players Club.

George Archer and Bobby Nichols also shot 68 and are at 134.

Gary Player shot a 66, the lowest round of the day by two strokes, and moved into fourth place at 135.

Zarley, 50, is playing in his fourth senior event. His last victory on the PGA Tour came in the 1984 Tallahassee Open.

“That was the last time I was in contention and the last time I remember having an exciting golf tournament,” Zarley said.
