TRENTON, N.J. — A wallet that belonged to George Washington, stolen last month from a state museum, was returned for his birthday Monday, but the cash it contained was missing.
Eric Davis, a Doylestown, Pa., attorney who said he was acting on behalf of a “good Samaritan who requests anonymity,” turned the wallet over to the State Police. Two bills issued by the Continental Congress--a two-thirds dollar bill from 1776 and a dollar bill from 1779--were still missing.
