MOORPARK : Adult Business Ordinance Backed

Share

Massage parlors, adult bookstores and X-rated theaters haven’t come to Moorpark yet, but city officials want to be ready if they arrive.

The Planning Commission voted Tuesday to recommend City Council approval of the city’s first ordinance governing adult businesses.

The proposed ordinance seeks to prevent any future adult entertainment establishments in the city from clustering together by requiring that they all be located at least 1,000 feet away from each other.

Such businesses will also have to be in commercial areas and at least 1,000 feet from any church, school or public park, and at least 500 feet from residential areas and from businesses with certain types of licenses to sell alcoholic beverages.

City planning officials said they did not know of anyone who wants to open an adult business in Moorpark.

Establishments that will be regulated by the proposed ordinance include adult cabarets, hotels that offer closed-circuit television of sexual activities and modeling studios that use nude models and are not connected to an art school.
