Fete to Be Punctuated With Hype, No Doubt

Pic ‘N’ Save, whose corporate title is unusual for its two apostrophes, is changing the name of some of its stores to a title that includes another distinguishing punctuation mark--a period.

The company said the stores are taking on the mouthful moniker of Mac Frugal’s Bargains . Close-outs.

The idea, it says, is to better communicate to the public the retail-market niche that the stores fill.

The company will mark the name change with a celebration at its Santa Maria store Feb. 28 and 29. Among the draws will be refreshments and balloons, a coloring contest for children and clowns. The aim of the hoopla: to forever etch the new title in customers’ minds. Period.
