Ametek Inc. said it has acquired the Simi Valley-based Tencal operations from Cambridge-Lee Industries Inc. for an undisclosed cash price.

Tencal, with more than 300 employees, produces small electric motors and plastic components for pumps in evaporative coolers. In addition to the Simi Valley facility, Tencal has 40 employees at a plant in Tijuana, Mexico.

Ametek, based in Paoli, Pa., is an industrial concern with 1991 revenue of $715 million. It said Tencal would become part of its electromechanical group, which makes motors for vacuums, blowers and business machines.
