California IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Priest in Sex Lawsuit Won’t Get Church
Bishop Francis Quinn of the Sacramento Catholic Diocese says a former Orland pastor accused of sexual relationships with women he was counseling will not be given a church in the area again. Quinn testified in the Superior Court jury trial of a $12.5-million lawsuit brought by three women against the Rev. Michael Dermody and the diocese. Dermody, former pastor of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Orland in Glenn County, is on administrative leave. “The determining factor would be if anyone would be at risk . . . and I would say he’s not going to come back to this diocese,” Quinn said.
