CHULA VISTA : Attorney Sentenced for Embezzlement
A Chula Vista attorney who embezzled funds from a client was sentenced Wednesday to 180 days in jail and ordered to perform 250 hours of volunteer work for a charity.
Larry Byron Croyle, 49, whose law office was in Chula Vista, had filed a lawsuit for a man who had been in a traffic accident. Deputy Dist. Atty. Bill Collins said Croyle received a settlement but only gave a small portion to his client and kept the rest after cashing the check at a liquor store.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Allan Preckel placed Croyle on probation for five years and ordered him to start making payments of $100 per month to the victim after he is released from jail.
Croyle could be disbarred because of his felony conviction.
