Missing the Real Jerry Rubin Story

Share

Ouch! How could Daniel Akst in his column, “Freedom Is Still Rubin’s Motto” (Jan. 21), so badly miss the story while playing word games with my public image? The story he missed is much more interesting than the changes my image has gone through since the 1960s.

He missed this story: In response to the collapse of corporate America, the white-collar unemployment crisis and the distribution system nightmare in America, we have created an alternative with our Network Marketing program, which in the 1990s will result in massive peoples’ entrepreneurship across America.

Instead, Akst quotes some so-called expert who says: “You’d think a guy as bright as Jerry Rubin could find a better way to make a living.” What? A better way of making a living than coaching people how to go into business for themselves?

A better way of making a living than creating structures for people to create financial self-reliance? A better way than teaching people how to identify and capitalize on the economic and social trends of the ‘90s?

I predict that Network Marketing will be one of the major solutions to the unemployment crisis in America and will be one of the major financial stories of the ‘90s. Akst also missed another big story: Why thousands of people all across America are taking “Wow,” “Focus,” “Be Your Best” and the other Durk Pearson & Sandy Shaw products.

Instead, Akst quoted a few “experts” (who is an “expert” and are so-called experts always right?) without any attempt to understand why people take the products.

The company I represent, Omnitrition, which sells these products, did $12 million in its first year and $42 million in its second year--during a recession! Professional athletes, performers, physicians and average people take the drinks every day.

We are creating an alternative distribution and entrepreneurial method for getting products from the manufacturer directly to the consumer, without the middlemen, as one solution to the job crisis in America today.
