Baubles and Bangles Don’t Add Up to Love

Bettijane Levine seems in her Valentine article, to reinforce the concept that love has something to do with tangible goods (“When You Care Enough but Give the Very Worst,” Feb. 14).

A relationship between lovers or man and wife in this culture has become a fee-for-service thanks to those with monetary or “comparable worth” gift expectation.

Love is an intangible and if one needs a tangible reminder . . . there truly might not be much of a relationship extant.
