Three Japanese Businessmen Arrested on Fraud Charges: Takeshi Fukushima, formerly in charge of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone’s Tokyo communications systems division, and two former executives of now-bankrupt real estate firm Century World were arrested on suspicion of swindling a real estate firm, Japanese police said. The three allegedly tried to swindle $3.87 million out of a real estate company on Okinawa in December, 1990. Police said the three, knowing the company was selling land, told a real estate company official that they wanted to build a resort on Okinawa and asked him for the $3.87 million so they could fix the deal by buying the influence of politicians and others.
