Chalco Reports Quarterly Profit Drop, but Sales Up

Chalco Industries Inc. in Chatsworth said its fiscal third-quarter profit slipped 7% from a year earlier despite a sharp rise in sales.
The maker of hydraulic assemblies and other aerospace parts said its net income in the quarter that ended Dec. 31 fell to $252,000 from $271,590 a year earlier, while its sales jumped to $4 million from $1.63 million.
But for the first nine months of its fiscal year, Chalco’s profit surged to $651,304 from $271,590 a year earlier, and its nine-month sales nearly doubled, to $11.4 million from $5.9 million.
Chalco does business under the name Dunlap, Abbott, Chalco Corp., after having bought the assets of Dunlap & Abbott Manufacturing Co. a year ago.
