Michigan Doesn’t Bite the Hand That Feeds It

Michigan residents are loyal to the domestic auto industry, with Big Three makes accounting for eight of nine vehicles bought.

While foreign models captured 36.1% of the market, they accounted for only 10.9% of Michigan sales, the Detroit News said.

In Michigan, 89.1% of cars and light trucks sold carried a General Motors, Ford Motor or Chrysler nameplate.

The top five models in the state are the Ford Escort, Chevrolet Cavalier, Chevrolet Lumina, Ford Taurus and Ford Tempo.

Nationwide, three of the five best sellers are Japanese--the Honda Accord, Honda Civic and Toyota Camry.
