SCENE ON THE STREET : They’re Cutting Quite a Figure

Share

It’s called “the fade.” Don’t ask why. Even the stylists don’t know. But today’s fashion scene would be dead without it:

FADE IN: A typical street in Pasadena or Pomona in March, 1992. Young guys with the hair appear. They are obviously very with it.

CUT TO: One, two or three inches above the ears--and maybe even some off the front and back. Top can look alert or laid-back. Hair at sides can also vary in length, from bare to stubbly. Either way, the message is clear.

Guys with the hair don’t say anything. They don’t need to.

FADE IN: Well, you can’t say fade out. This scene hasn’t even begun to peak.
