MOSCOW — A Russian who drew up a hit list of Communist leaders in his region and killed two of them was sentenced to death Tuesday, the Russian news agency reported.
The agency said that carpenter Vladimir Vorontsov described the killings as “part of the retribution for the criminal deeds of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.”
Police searching through his papers found a list of 12 leaders of the Kaluga district about 120 miles south of Moscow.
The court found Vorontsov guilty of murdering a newspaper editor and the chairman of the local construction workers’ trade union. He was also found guilty of attempting to kill a newspaper photographer.
