KEEP ON GIVING: Who says politicians don’t have a sense of humor? Dana Reed lost his race for the state Senate last year but retained a souvenir: $100,000 worth of unpaid bills. He says he’s pared it to $45,000 and will hold a March 28 fund-raiser to pacify “long beleaguered and increasingly impatient creditors.” Admission to the Santa Ana event will run $35 “for Young Republicans, senior citizens and the formerly flush,” $99 for most others. . . . It’s free for “politicians pleading poverty.” Reed, a Republican, says he hopes to pick up another $15,000 that night.
