Deficit

President Bush is deservedly taking the heat for staying the course of the “voodoo economics” of Ronald Reagan that created this country’s runaway deficit. Reagan knew that the American people would not worry and be happy (despite the growing deficit, which he simply cloaked with a smoke-and-mirror device called the “trickle-down theory”) up until sometime after his era ended.
When we have a strong President who can really see the trillion points of deficit light even in non-election years, we will move onward. Otherwise, the presidential spin doctors’ and speech writers’ tax cuts then and now will be paid for by our children.
