FULLERTON : Placentia Aide to Be Chief of Engineering

Bob Hodson, Placentia’s public works director, has been named Fullerton’s director of engineering.

Hodson, who was appointed by Fullerton City Manager William C. Winter, will start his new job next Monday. He replaces Hugh L. Berry, assistant city manager and director of engineering and community development, who retires Tuesday after 32 years with Fullerton.

Hodson is returning to familiar turf. He worked for the city of Fullerton--and Berry--for 14 years before leaving in 1986 for Cerritos, where he was assistant city engineer. Two years later, he headed for Placentia to become the head engineer there.

Hodson, who was raised in the Tustin area, said he is looking forward to his return to Fullerton.

“I have a good working relationship with the employees of the department, as I know most of them, and I know most of the projects they are working on,” he said.

One of his first tasks will be to reorganize the department as the redevelopment and economic development activities have been placed under a newly created department headed by Gary Chalupsky.
