Steven R. Kay was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Amwest Insurance Group Inc., a Woodland Hills underwriter of bail bonds and other surety products.

Kay succeeds as chief financial officer Robert C. Goodell, who recently resigned to pursue other interests. Kay previously was an audit partner in the Los Angeles office of KPMG Peat Marwick, a major accounting firm.
