Encino attorney David Peteler has been retained by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to advise Russia and the city of Moscow in their efforts to privatize state-owned businesses.

Peteler last month left Chicago-based Baker & McKenzie, the world’s largest law firm, to start his own practice and concentrate on his work in Russia. He has been involved for the past several years in setting up joint ventures between Western companies and the former Soviet Union.

The London-based bank, with 39 member nations, was formed last April to provide Eastern Europe with investment funds.
