Dayton Hudson to Cut 630 Jobs: Dayton Hudson Corp. said it is eliminating about 630 jobs in its department store division. Nearly half the jobs will come from the management ranks of the division, which includes the Dayton’s, Hudson’s and Marshall Field’s chains. The division employs 34,000. Dayton Hudson, whose businesses also include Target discount stores and Mervyn’s clothing stores, said it planned to consolidate its distribution facilities by closing one Minneapolis warehouse. One of its Detroit distribution centers might also close, the company said.
