Dow Corning Says Insurance Adequate for Claims: Dow Corning Corp. said it has $250 million in insurance to cover costs that may arise from claims relating to its silicone gel breast implants. “We do feel we are adequately covered,” company Treasurer John Westcott said. Lawyers have estimated that there are as many as 1,000 suits pending against Dow Corning and other implant makers. The suits allege that the implants may have caused cancer, immune system disorders and connective tissue disease.
