Gorbachev on Socialism
I find it difficult to reconcile Gorbachev’s words regarding the demise of what he calls the “Stalinist model” of communism, with his fervent 1987 report to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union:
“In October 1917, we parted with the old world, rejecting it once and for all. We are moving toward a new world, the world of communism. We shall never turn off that road.”
