BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : ANGELS
First baseman Lee Stevens is scheduled to hit against Finley and Bert Blyleven today in Mesa to measure his progress in recovering from a sore right wrist. If he is fit, Stevens will make his spring debut by the weekend.
“It feels fine now,” Stevens said. “I feel like I could play, but I have to listen to what they say.”
This morning’s scheduled B game against the Brewers in Chandler is doubtful because of rain that soaked the Phoenix area Monday. If conditions are questionable, the teams will wait play only a full-squad game this afternoon. If weather permits, Langston will start the B game and Abbott the second game; if only one game is played, each might pitch four innings.
