TV a la King: ABC will turn Stephen King’s best-selling novel “The Stand” into a miniseries that will be written by--Stephen King, his first adaptation for a television miniseries. King also will serve as executive producer with Laurel Entertainment President Richard P. Rubinstein. “The Stand” envisions a future in which virtually the entire world population is wiped out by a deadly virus unleashed in a laboratory accident. There are 8 million paperback copies in print, making it cumulatively King’s best-selling book ever. ABC said the miniseries “probably” will air next season.
