Trading Partners Attack U.S. Policies: Canada, angry over recent U.S. measures against its exports, accused its southern neighbor of harassing competitor nations and abusing the international trading system. The United States also came under fire from others at a meeting of 103 nations in Geneva aimed at liberalizing world trade. A participant in the meeting--held under the auspices of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade--said European Community representative Roderick Abbott offered a sweeping criticism of U.S. policies. Canadian Ambassador Gerald Shannon said Ottawa was irritated by U.S. measures taken recently against Canada’s exports and concerned over an apparent drift by Washington toward managed trade.
