Diamond Bar : Jewelry Store Burglarized

Share

Burglars cut a hole in the roof of a Diamond Bar shopping complex over the weekend and dropped into a jewelry store, making off with about $80,000 in rings, bracelets, necklaces and colored stones, authorities said.

The burglary at Diamond Bar Jewelers, 1225 S. Diamond Bar Blvd., was the second incident at the complex, Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators said. Three months ago, burglars cut a hole in the roof but entered and left a gift shop empty-handed.

In three similar roof-entry burglaries in Diamond Bar last year, thieves hauled away safes, one containing more than $260,000 in cash and jewelry.

Sheriff’s detectives will investigate whether the most recent burglary is related to the others.

Detective Dave Hansen said rooftop entries are common methods employed by burglars to avoid doors and windows equipped with alarms.
