Homestake Mining Discussing Merger: Homestake Mining Co., a San Francisco-based gold mining firm that in 1991 suffered its first full-year loss since 1945, said it is discussing a possible merger with International Corona Corp., a Canadian mining company, and its principal shareholder, Dundee Bancorp Inc. The companies said they expect to announce the outcome of the talks Monday. Homestake has been hurt recently by low gold prices, operating problems at several mines and poor investments in mining properties.
