Police Identify Slain Youth as Gang Member
A youth killed in a Sun Valley drive-by shooting was identified Thursday as 17-year-old Jose Antonio Ramos, Los Angeles police said.
Ramos, who lived close to the shooting scene at the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Stagg Street, was a gang member and detectives regard the attack as gang-related, Police Lt. Michael Ranshaw said.
The shooting Wednesday may have been in retaliation for another that took place just minutes before in the 7800 block of Lemp Avenue, about a mile away, Ranshaw said. In that incident, two carloads of youths opened fire on a young man who suffered a minor wound in the arm.
No suspects have been arrested.
