Unocal to Phase Out Southeastern Gasoline Marketing: Unable to sell its complete gasoline marketing and retailing businesses in the Southeast after a year of trying, Los Angeles-based Unocal Corp. said it will allow fuel-supply contracts with 220 independent dealers serving 4,000 stations to lapse over the next three years. Unocal had been negotiating a larger deal with Louis Dreyfus Energy Corp., which is now expected to buy only the 24 distribution terminals. Unocal still hopes to sell the 44 service stations it owns in the Atlanta and Birmingham, Ala., areas.
