LUDHIANA, India —
Sikh militants sprayed automatic rifle fire through two areas of the Punjab industrial city of Ludhiana on Saturday, killing 18 people and wounding six, police said.
All of the victims were Hindu.
Police said the Khalistan Liberation Front, militant Sikhs fighting for and independent homeland, was suspected of carrying out the killings because at least 20 of its members had been killed by security forces over the past week.
