When you’re a kid, life’s adult scale is a little frustrating. For one thing, your legs dangle ridiculously from chairs. But a line of children’s furniture, designed and created by J. Troup, brings that too-big world down to an accommodating size.

Jeanne and David Troup’s replicas of furniture from Victorian to Deco include wingback chaise longues and overstuffed club chairs that use such playful fabrics as cowboy prints and leopard spots. Customers can choose the fabrics or request replicas of adult-sized furniture, which the Troups also make.

“I guess having grandchildren precipitated making the furniture,” says Jeanne Troup, who lives and works in Mt. Washington with her husband. “They like something that’s kids’ size so they can pretend to be adults.”

Prices start at $425 for the club chairs and at $600 for the chaise longues.
