Beautiful Carson Park: The city of Burbank isn’t offended by Johnny Carson’s sarcastic references to “beautiful downtown Burbank” and wants to rename a park in honor of the retiring “Tonight Show” host. The City Council will vote Tuesday on a proposal to change the name of Buena Vista Park, which happens to be on a street called Bob Hope Drive, to Johnny Carson Park. Carson, who ends his reign on the show May 22, has agreed to have the 17-acre park named for him, a spokeswoman said. “The Tonight Show” has taped in Burbank for the past 20 years. “This is the end of an era,” said Mayor Michael Hastings. “He has given Burbank worldwide recognition even though the material he used on Burbank was tongue in cheek.”
