Lawrence D. Hamlin, 47, has been elected vice president of Southern California Edison, with responsibility for the firm’s power production unit, which includes the utility’s non-nuclear power generation and transmission system. He succeeds Glenn Bjorklund, 59, who will retire from the Rosemead-based utility later this year.

John R. Fielder, 46, currently vice president-information services, was named to the new position of vice president-regulatory policy and affairs, with overall responsibility for Edison’s economic, energy and environmental regulation. Fielder has served as head of Edison’s strategic planning effort, which included analysis of regulatory matters.

In addition, two Edison executives resigned to accept senior management positions at Mission Energy Co., a subsidiary of Edison’s parent, SCEcorp, that is engaged in non-utility power production. Michael L. Noel, 50, senior vice president of Edison with responsibility for employee and corporate services, and Robert Dietch, 53, head of Edison’s engineering, research and environment department, have joined Mission Energy. Noel will be senior vice president and chief financial officer and Dietch senior vice president, responsible for construction and operations. They will report to Mission Energy President James S. Pignatelli.
