World IN BRIEF : INDIA : Sikh Militants Kill 20 in Punjab Massacre
Sikh militants on motor scooters shot and killed 20 people in Punjab in the second major attack in the northern state within a week, a police spokesman said. Eighteen of the victims in Ludhiana were Hindus, said Guljar Singh. The other two were Sikhs. In the Ludhiana attack, the militants, who seek an independent state, fired AK-47 assault rifles, Singh said. Twelve people were injured. On Tuesday, Sikh militants disguised as policemen lined up 16 Hindu engineers and shot them to death at a factory in Ludhiana.
