Southland-based Vying Victor stalked the early leaders and swept to the lead turning into the stretch to win the $250,000 Remington Park Derby at Oklahoma City, Okla.
Ron Hansen rode Vying Victor for trainer Ian Jory and finished 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Ecstatic Ride. It was another 6 3/4 lengths back to Capitalimprovement.
Vying Victor raced the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43 3/5 and paid $7.80 to win, $5 to place, and $3.60 to show. Ecstatic Ride paid $4.40 to place and $3.80 to show. Capitalimprovement paid $5.20 to show.
