BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Esasky Is Hitless in Return to Braves
Nick Esasky, the Atlanta Braves’ first baseman who had been sidelined for nearly two years because of vertigo, was hitless in three at-bats in his first exhibition appearance.
“I’m tired, but I’ve got to get it moving, get it rolling,” Esasky said after playing the entire game against the Montreal Expos.
Tim Wallach, upset at being shifted from third base to first base, has asked the Montreal Expos to trade him. The Angels, Dodgers and New York Yankees have expressed interest in Wallach, but his age--34--and contract--$12 million for the next four years--are obstacles to a trade. . . . Dwight Evans, 40, was cut by the Baltimore Orioles.
