Micom Communications Corp., a Simi Valley maker of equipment that allows computers to share data, said that its chief financial officer, Barry Phelps, has been elevated to the formerly vacant post of chairman and has taken over as chief executive from Gil Cabral.

Cabral continues to serve as president, a position he previously held, and has also assumed the newly created post of chief operating officer, Micom said. Fran Good, formerly the company’s controller, has replaced Phelps as chief financial officer.
