Incentives to Combat Athens Smog Proposed

The Greek government, trying to combat worsening smog, Monday proposed incentives to encourage Athenians to use cars that pollute less.

Under the plan, some consumer taxes would be reduced by up to 65% for people replacing older vehicles. Owners of newer cars also would not pay license and road fees for five years.
