While I do not take that much time for world politics, I did feel that the world lost a very unusual man in Menachem Begin ("Begin, 78, Dies; Led Israel to Peace and War," March 9).
He showed a trait that our sorry American politicians totally lack--guts. This can easily be seen by Iraq (the loser) calling all the shots against the United Nations (the winner?). The latest horrible goof is the North Korean vessel that hoodwinked some 22 of our Navy's ships. Why didn't the Navy stop the ship in the first place? No guts?
No wonder many Americans don't bother to vote.
