H&R; Block Inc., the nation’s largest tax-preparation service, has chosen president and chief operating officer Thomas M. Bloch to succeed his father, Henry W. Bloch, as chief executive of the Kansas City-based company.
The change becomes effective Aug. 1. Henry Bloch, company co-founder, will continue as chairman of the board.
Thomas Bloch, 38, has been president and chief operating officer since 1989.
