Photographers Can Clean Up: A new entry in interesting publicity gimmicks: the “Dirty Picture Photo Contest” from 30 Minute Photos Etc. in Irvine.
That’s not dirty as in smutty, but rather the plain old roll-in-the-mud kind of dirty.
The idea is to take before-and-after pictures of unkempt bedrooms, unsanitary beaches, even cluttered desks. As one might deduce, picture No. 2 is supposed to show how the mess in photo No. 1 was returned to pristine elegance.
“Composition and lighting are important criteria, but photographer creativity will help too,” said Carl Berman, vice president of the photo center chain--which is not requiring entries to have been developed or printed at a 60-Minute store.
The winners will share $500 in prizes. The deadline for contest entries is April 29.
Earth Day, naturally.
