Arcadia : Reward Posted in Vandalism
A $1,000 reward has been posted by the city for information leading to the arrest and conviction of vandals who have been striking at private mailboxes.
City Councilman George W. Fasching, whose decorative mailbox was destroyed about a month ago, initiated the reward proposal, which was passed Tuesday on a 5-0 vote.
Arcadia Police Capt. Rick Sandona said the problem is not a “current crime rage” but has surfaced, on and off, for years. He said minors are usually responsible, sometimes smashing the boxes with a baseball bat or running over them with a vehicle.
Extra police patrols are being provided between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., when most of the vandalism occurs, Sandona said.
