Associated Press
MOSCOW —
Twelve motorists were killed when an avalanche in the Pamir mountain range of Tajikistan crashed down on a highway and buried passing cars, the Russian news agency said Wednesday.
The agency said cars driving on the highway connecting the cities of Osh and Horog were buried Tuesday under more than six feet of snow.
“Although rescuers immediately arrived at the scene of the accident, most of the people they dug out were already dead,” the agency said.
It said three survivors were hospitalized.
