A 19-year-old gang member pleaded no contest Thursday to shooting two people in a West Covina mall during a gun battle with a rival gang.
Richard Ramos pleaded to two counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied building, and admitted the special allegations of street terrorism, use of a firearm and causing great bodily injury. Ramos pleaded no contest in Citrus Municipal Court at what was to be a hearing to set a date for his preliminary hearing.
Ramos faces life in prison with the possibility of parole. He is to be sentenced April 2. “It’s great. He faces life in prison and didn’t even kill anyone,” said Deputy Dist. Atty. Tom Falls.
