ALISO VIEJO : Public Invited to Opening of Park

Share

The gates leading to Brookline Park--the second of three parks to be opened during the community’s 10th-anniversary celebration this year--will be unlocked in a special ceremony on Saturday.

Opening day of the six-acre park will be marked by a community tree-planting. Families can register to help plant one of 40, one-gallon California pepper trees.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. inside the park, at Aliso Creek Road and Brookline. Attending the dedication will be County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley and officials from the Mission Viejo Co. and homeowner associations.

Those attending are asked to bring shovels, gloves and watering cans.

Brookline Park is designed for recreational use and picnickers. The park is outfitted with two volleyball courts, one basketball court, several picnic tables and open play areas.

The park opening is the second in a week, following that of Hillview Park. That 26-acre site is near Laguna Hills Drive and Glenhurst.

Twelve-acre Argonaut Park, with two soccer fields, will open on April 20.
