Campaign to Retire Camel’s ‘Old Joe’
Regarding your editorial, I think Novello, the AMA and the Journal of the American Medical Assn. again lost sight of the forest for the trees. Instead of focusing on the relatively minor problem of “Old Joe,” they should be keeping the heat on a wimpy Congress to end the subsidy for tobacco, the use of which costs our country billions in health care. Like other drugs, some people will always use it, but it defies reason to use taxes to make it more affordable so as to produce cancer and lung disease on a grand scale.
