A Toyota Eagle fielded by former winner Dan Gurney and co-driven by Juan Fangio II of Argentina and Andy Wallace of England outlasted the favored Nissan GT Prototypes to win the 40th anniversary edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring, Fla.

The Nissans, trying for their fourth consecutive victory on the 3.7-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway circuit, combined to lead 209 of the 360 total laps but eventually succumbed to mechanical problems and the tenacious Eagle.

The winners averaged 110.724 m.p.h. and covered 1,332 miles.
