Grace Completes Sale of SoftKat, 2 Other Units

W. R. Grace & Co. has completed the previously announced sale of its SoftKat division in Chatsworth, along with two other units, to the Carlyle Group and managers of the divested units.
SoftKat, a distributor of educational, entertainment and home-productivity software for computers, was sold along with Baker & Taylor Books and Baker & Taylor Video, which distribute books, videotapes and other products to schools, libraries and retailers.
The three units, which have a combined annual revenue of about $750 million, have formed a new company, Baker & Taylor Inc.
The price of the sale, which was first announced in November, was not disclosed.
Carlyle is a private merchant banking and investment firm in Washington. Grace is a diversified concern based in Boca Raton, Fla.
